Huawei Honor 6 vs Xiaomi Mi 4

The battle of smartphones is getting hotter every passing day and the war seems to get better every time a device is launched. The specs, the pricing, the availability and more importantly the manufacturer. I now write about two new phones from 2 Chinese giants - Xiaomi and Huawei. The Huawei Honor 6 vs Xiaomi Mi 4.

Huawei Honor 6:

The latest offering from Huawei - The HONOR 6.
Honor 6 is a 5-inch device that is expected launched on 29th September 2014. The device has a Full HD IPS Panel with 1920x1080 resolution and a pixel density of 445ppi.

To start off with the device, the device runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat with HUAWEI Emotion UI 2.3 which is the latest in the Emotion UI Series. Has touch sensitive buttons on the front, power key and the volume rocker on the right.

The device sports a 13MP clicker on the rear with flash which can be used to shoot Full HD videos at 30FPS. The front snapper is a 5MP one and is placed alongside the sensors to the right side of the earpiece.

The phone comes equipped with 2 micro sim slots (YES! A dual sim phone!). But the Indian variant comes with a single sim one (Sad!) The phone sports a micro sd card slot(up to 64GB) as well as for all those who need that extra storage space. Though the device comes with 16/32GB storage options, the micro sd card will be a plus as many phones in the category don't have it. The phone runs on an OCTA CORE HiSilicon Kirin 920, a processor from the Huawei's own farm and is yet to show its power to the world along with Mali-450MP4 GPU. The phone has 3GB of RAM and lags will be a thing of the past on the device. To power all this, the device is packed with a non-removable 3100mAh Li-PO battery that should be lasting a day on a normal use.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, HSUPA and LTE cat6 ( Yes, this phone is said to be world's first OCTA CORE LTE CAT6 Device).Unfortunately, Indian customers have to wait longer till the actual 4G technology becomes a reality. A-GPS for navigation is also available.

The Phone is light at 130g and should be a comfortable piece of tech in one's hands. Priced at Rs.19999/- this phone becomes a killer device to choose to look at the specs and the brand!

Huawei Honor 6 will be exclusively available on Flipkart from October 6.

Now I compare the device with one of the most awaited device of the year.

vs XIAOMI Mi 4

Mi 4 also has a 5-inch screen with the same resolution as that of Honor 6 but with a 441ppi.

The device runs on customised OS - MIUI that is based on Android v4.4.3 KitKat. Even Mi 4 sports a 13MP snapper on the rear but, the front camera is a bit higher with 8MP sensors compared to that of the 5MP one on Honor 6 (better selfies? well, we'll have to see!). The rear snapper is capable of capturing 2K videos at 30FPS(WHOA!!!).The phone is a single SIM device vs the dual sim Huawei. No micro sim card slot as there is a 64GB variant on offer as well, so one has to be content with the phone storage and rely on the data cables to transfer the files to and from the device (as I have no info on the OTG facility on both devices). Runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. The RAM same at 3GB so no issues of lags to crib about. The device is powered by a 3080mAh Li-Ion battery a slightly (very!) smaller than the Huawei one and should last u a day on a full charge and normal use.

The connectivity options are same as that of Honor 6 except for the LTE connectivity option. The device also sports an infrared sensor that is not on the Honor 6. This sensor is supposedly put in place to replace the remotes in your house! Mi 4 is a touch heavier at 149 grams but might not be that problematic for a phone of this size. The phone is also thicker by a millimetre.

Overall, by the looks of it, the phones are in a fierce battle but the Huawei Honor 6 is on the upper side with dual sims, micro sd slot and most importantly LTE support. With no pricing factors in the picture, one can assume the pricing to be somewhere around that of Huawei Honor 6.

For people looking for awesome selfies, the Mi 4 has a better front snapper of the 2 devices (but hey! don't we have Ascend P7 for selfies???). Once the phones hit the market which is about a couple of days for Honor 6 and maybe a month for the Mi 4, the customers are spoilt for choices. We fans are in for some entertainment as the 2 Chinese giants battle it out for the coveted title and given the flash sales of Xiaomi, a lot of customers will not get the device at the time they want it.
